Who cares about small wins? Not many of us. Small Wins, at one point, was recognized as the path to success.

However, these days, if you are not spewing the greatness of earning a 6-figure income, no one wants to hear a word.

Small wins are for slackers.

Over the last year or two, buzz words have been, “hustle”, “small biz owners”, “mompreneur” and a “6-figure entrepreneur”.

These words have been the epitome of success, whether you have reached it or not.

When I read or hear these words, it resonates with me that this is the goal of finances.

Are small wins for slackers? I think not.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not naive to the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of people who fit in the money-earning categories.

However, those who don’t necessarily fit that 6-figure category are on the path or have just begun to draw the blueprint. How do I know?

I’m one of them in the drawing stage.

Small wins keep you motivated.

As you continue to move closer and closer to your financial goal or any goal, honestly, most people need continued motivation.

That is the perfect time to assess your “why”.

That will help you get back on track. You have a vision, you have a goal, you have a determination that is worth more than gold. It will keep you pushing through.

While going through those inevitable motions to get to your end of the rainbow, there may be some times where you will begin to tire.

Before that moment, it is time for a small win.

What did you accomplish so far? It doesn’t matter the size.

Check it off and gift yourself with something small that you enjoy. This is something just for you. Know one else needs to know.

Here are 20 examples of small wins you can choose as rewards:

  • Celebrate with your favorite drink. There is nothing like buying the drink you love and partaking in its glory. I know that is a bit dramatic but I feel just like that when I purchase my favorite coffee at my favorite shop. If you choose to make your drink at home, make sure you use a cute mug like this one! This celebration is one of my fab fav’s!
  • Take a moment to yourself. Find some time, even if it’s just 15 minutes, to do nothing or to do what yo love. That moment needs to be the amount of time you need to do what you love. Remember, it doesn’t have to be where you are still. That is up to you!
  • Buy yourself the book you’ve wanted, or listen to the audio version. I’m thinking that since you are a reader since you are here, you will love to buy yourself the book you have wanted for a while. Wouldn’t it be great if you go into the bookstore and experience the nostalgia of being in a building full of them? All kinds. And the smell of books is the best! But I digress… Enjoy it in there!
  • It’s online shopping time! Oh, I meant to say, “Only buy one “small” celebratory item to match the “small” win you’ve earned. Okay? —- Okay. There’s nothing like searching and choosing a little gift just for you for your win.
  • Cook your favorite dish or dessert. Are you a cook or can you bake what you absolutely love? That dish, snack, or dessert can be your small win. What would you cook/bake?
  • Stress balls. You know those cute hand-size stress balls, some of them even have funny faces or are shaped in everyday items we use, like an ice cream cone, sandwich, etc. Try Walgreens, Wal-Mart, etc.
  • Pamper yourself. Choose a self-care method for your celebration! Maybe a bubble bath, an appointment with a masseuse or nail tech, or even wash, curling, or braiding your hair. Learn more here about Self-Care ideas.
  • FaceTime your girls! That magical way you can call your besties and chat with them face-to-face in real-time. It’s just as if they were sitting right next to you sharing laughs and some of the best conversations. The next time you want to celebrate a small win, choose uninterrupted time with your girls FaceTiming.
  • Take a day off from work. We work so diligently at our jobs it becomes 2nd nature. There are times when we just need to rest, a day to do what we want, or even a day to be ourselves to just…be.
  • Create a playlist of your favorite songs. Your favorite tunes, bands, soloists, rappers, and songstress on one playlist are a dream. The best thing about it is every song that plays will give you a feeling that you don’t want to let go.
  • It’s time for a new journal. Journal about whatever is on your mind. Being able to write freely with no judgment, questions, or holding back is so freeing. Using a journal that you’ve chosen makes writing that much easier. Check out these!

  • Write and frame a motivational quote. There is a saying that speaks to your very soul. You need to keep them close to your heart. They should be in close view daily. This way, you’ll be able to remember what’s important each day.
  • Change your screensaver. If you enjoy your phone, laptop, or desktop screens, being able to even know that the colors, font, etc can be changed warms the heart of techies. Changing your screensaver to something that makes you smile. Maybe change it to your favorite color, location, and on your laptop, desktop, and phone. Just a quick note, you can download stock photos from many sites. Here are 2 that I use regularly: Pexels and Unsplash.
  • Light scented candles. One of the most relaxing ways includes scented candles. The process of choosing the perfect scent is part of the celebration. Take your time, smell them all and buy the one(s) that make you smile.
  • Buy yourself flowers. Now that you’ve chosen your favorite flowers, place them in a vase and make sure they are in a place you can enjoy them daily.
  • Indulge in a bubble bath. The best part, for me, when it comes to taking a bubble bath is the body wash. It can be used to make those luxurious bubbles while offering an amazing aroma.
  • New pillows. A new pillow can make your day. These can be new pillows for your bed, couch, or outside furniture. Choose a color you love or colors that probably wouldn’t on a normal day. Check out these pillows and see if you like them!

When celebrating small wins, it would be wonderful to just take some time to cuddle a new pillow while reading a book or having a cup of tea or coffee.

  • Change your comforter or blanket. Changing your comforter gives your bedroom a whole different vibe. This is a great way to celebrate your small win. Remember if you don’t have extras, just through it in the washer and use dryer sheets when it is drying. Afterward, the comforter has the best scent and regains its fluff.
  • Watch your favorite movie, uninterrupted! When I think about my favorite movie, it always gets me excited. I look forward to those 2 hours of what makes me happy on film. Go for it! What’s your favorite movie?
  • Change your purse. Find that cute purse you haven’t carried in a while that you really love and switch it with the one you are currently carrying. Don’t worry if it matches anything or even its size. If you enjoy it, carry it!

Remember, not everyone will understand your vision or what you consider a small win. Most are just invigorated by large milestones.

However, what most forget, it’s the small wins that placed them there. Here are two Podcasts, “You Are More than Worthy” by The Self-Love Fix

and “First Steps to Following Your Dreams and Creating the Life You Love” by Joyfully You that I listen to and use as my small wins many times.

These are just some of the ways that I celebrate my small wins. My hope for you is that you continue on your journey.

Keep in mind your passion and purpose on your path and let nothing and no one deters you from what has been laid out just…for…you.

Let this month be the month that we say to ourselves, I will do more of what I love.

How are you celebrating your small wins?
