Side hustles are not just buzz words; they can truly help move you along professionally and financially. If you put in the work, of course. How often do we hear the phrases “the grind” or “the side hustle”?

In addition to that, how often do you get a question like, Why are you always on your computer? Are you kidding me? I stop responding at this point.

However, I would take precious time out of my day to explain why, I have side hustles; as if they don’t know, and then I enjoy questioning them about why they aren’t trying to obtain extra income while at home? I finally work up and no longer cared what others thought.

Less Work, More Money

I continued to learn as much as I can about how to earn money using the skills I already have and without a lot of constant traveling from one place to another for more work and less money.

Most people have at least 2 skills that can earn them side hustle money. I guess saying that everyone has at least 2 skills is extreme, but I believe if we all self-assess, we have at least 1. I’m an optimist if you haven’t guessed by now.

Be ready to be strategic and work diligently to be successful with side hustles. There are so many naysayers that have their own opinions about those who choose to have money-making abilities on the side. Ignore it. You can create side hustles that can change your financial life.

Here are 5 side hustles you may be able to make into your extra income from skills you may already have:

  1. Mock-up Photographer. Do you love or even like taking pictures? Are you somewhat versed with a camera? Do you have an eye for professionally staged photos? Then this may be a great side hustle for you!

A mock-up photographer takes professional pictures of staged areas or items indoors or outdoors in order for others to use it to place a picture of their product on top of the photo you took to give the product context.

Think about this, someone is selling a t-shirt with graphics on a mock-up that includes the t-shirt, a pair of shorts, and a pair of shoes in the photograph. That’s it! You can sell those mock-ups on a platform or website to earn money.

2). Resume Writer. Are resumes your joy? Great! There are so many people who are ready to have their resumes created and updated. Not only can you create the resume, but you can also create resume templates to sell on different platforms or sell resume packages. All online.

The packages can include a resume, cover letter, reference sheet (including all the professional and personal reference names and contacts on one sheet), and possibly a template for a “thank you” letter for your interviewer. Of course, you will be able to choose what you want to create.

3). Updating LinkedIn Profiles. There are so many people who are intimidated by LinkedIn and its format. I see it as an extension of your resume with a twist. The networking and connection level is amazing: the groups you can be a part of can offer more knowledge in the niche/industry you’re interested in. Hey, Medium writers are there too!

You are able to create and update LinkedIn profiles for those who don’t have the time or are not familiar with the platform. Set your fee and go for it!

4). Affiliate Marketing. There’s a long list of companies and ways you can earn money through affiliate marketing. This type of extra income stream is basically marketing or getting others to buy someone’s product or service and when they buy, you’d receive a commission for your efforts.

There are specific sites where you can become an affiliate and find different products to encourage others to buy. They even offer landing pages and flyers so all you have to do is send or post it (Clickbank, Digi24, and others).

Most businesses we patron have an affiliate marketing opportunity. The next time you order online or you go into a store or platform (Target, Amazon, etc.) check their website (usually at the bottom) where it will say “Affiliates” or something similar. Next time you’re on there, click the button and sign up!

5). Proofreader. Being a proofreader, wonderfully, can be complete online. There are several types of documents or postings that people don’t have time for or don’t want to complete. Blogs, website content, novels, mission statements, articles, essays, and more are just a few ways to proofread for a fee.

Conclusion

There are, of course, many more ways to create a side hustle today with no or little money.

One of the most important ways to choose what side hustle is best for you is:

1). make sure it is something that you enjoy, 2). make sure it is a skill you have or can quickly learn 3). make sure it is a side hustle that others need, and lastly, 4). make sure you are firm with fees and what your business protocols are.

If you are just starting out, it is okay to lower your price or even complete a few projects for free to get reviews or experience. Let the project be small if free because your time is still valuable even if you are new to the side hustle of life.

What a great opportunity to understand and take advantage of seeking out your skills in order to use them to provide a financial step up and a way to begin learning more skills as you go.

Do you have other side hustles other than writing? Let me know!
